A message for humanity:

Covid-19 is a viral global pandemic that can easily spread from one person to another and is highly infectious and frighteningly dangerous in nature.
However, we need to be aware that what is even more contagious than this global pandemic and can negatively and alarmingly affect many more future lifetimes, is the deeply infectious mind state of ‘jealous’ and ‘covetousness’.
We must therefore mindfully prevent and remove such dangerous mind states – by practicing much Metta loving kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy and equanimity at all times.
Although we started our Myanmar new year of 1381 with much joy, we are ending it now with much worry and anxiety due to the worldwide pandemic of covid-19.
In our samsara, we cannot only expect joyful moments. We are now duly reminded that there will also be many moments full of disappointments and dissatisfactions as well. However, even during these most difficult moments, to witness the outpouring of the genuine collective metta and compassion from all the people of Myanmar, is as if to see a most beautiful lotus flower blooming out of a raging fire. How wonderful to display such noble qualities to the rest of the world as well.
May this collective metta and compassion from all sectors of our society, be it from the religious leaders or from the many citizens, with a coming together of both minds and bodies towards helping and assisting one another, allow us all to overcome these most difficult times.
May we all practice mindfulness and through this practice, come to realise that there are even more factors in our lives that can be as dangerous as this pandemic. These would be that of our ‘mind states’ of hatred, anger, animosity, non-gratitude, selfishness, jealousy and extremism.
May this year of 1382 bring us all much peace and tranquility, away from every manner of danger in our lives.
